Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I donate money to my own college?
As a college, we prepare today’s students to be tomorrow’s business and community leaders. Their influence will impact the quality of life here in Central Florida , across the nation and around the world. Your gift will have an immediate impact on the quality of their education. Whether through scholarship, lab enhancements or attending national and international competitions, your gift will provide an added value to their UCF experience. Additionally, your support will make an important statement to alumni, friends of the college, corporations and foundations and reinforce their confidence in the college as an important benefactor of their philanthropic support.

How will the money I donate be used?
Can I designate that the money be used by a particular department or for a particular item?

You can designate that your donation support priorities established by your department. You also have the option to give to an unspecified area. All gifts qualify as a tax deductible charitable contribution.

Can I give through payroll deduction?
Yes. That option is available on the pledge card. You can give in a variety of increments. It’s easy.

Have the other colleges held campaigns to raise money?
Others have solicited support from faculty and staff. The College of Health and Public Affairs has had the most success. However, no other UCF college has conducted such a formal campaign. We’re the first to have the effort lead by the college’s own faculty and staff. We’re proud that our effort is led by a faculty-staff committee.

Will it affect my position or how I’m perceived by my supervisors if I don’t give?
Absolutely not. Feel free to give or not to give depending on your situation and your own feelings. We only ask that you consider what the student, staff and faculty mean to you and what you can afford to give. We realize that you may not be able to give or have other commitments that prevent you from giving. But on our first campaign, we’re hoping that many of you will give what you can even if that is a small amount — the cost of a lunch out — so that we can tell our partners that a large percentage of our employees have supported our work through donations.

Will there be recognition for donors?
Yes. Our donors deserve recognition and we have plans for thanking every single one of you that helps us reach our goal.

If your question was not answered, ask Wayne Weinberg at 407-823-2156 or wweinber@mail.ucf.edu .
